📅 Every March 8th, the world commemorates International Women’s Day, a date that reminds us of the importance of gender equality and the impact women have on society. However, beyond celebration, it is a call to action: there is still much to be done to ensure that every woman has access to her fundamental rights, including food, health, and education.

🌍 At AGAPE HAND, we work every day to eradicate hunger in indigenous and rural communities in Peru, providing support to women facing extreme inequality. Because we know that when a woman receives opportunities, not only does her life change, but so does her entire community.
📌 The Harsh Reality of Women in Vulnerable Communities
In many rural and indigenous areas, women are the backbone of their families and communities. They are responsible for providing food, managing the home, caring for children, and, in many cases, generating income. However, they face barriers such as poverty, lack of access to basic resources, and gender discrimination.
📊 Alarming Data:
- 🌾 More than 60% of people suffering from hunger worldwide are women and girls.
- 💧 In many rural communities, women walk kilometers daily to access drinking water.
- 💰 Wage inequality persists, limiting many women’s opportunities to escape poverty.
- 🌱 Lack of access to education restricts growth and development opportunities for millions of women.
This reality compels us to take action and ensure that every woman has access to dignified and sustainable food.
💜 Women Who Inspire: Stories of Change
At AGAPE HAND, we have seen firsthand how solidarity and support can transform a woman’s life and her surroundings.
✨ María, a mother of three, struggled daily to feed them with the few resources she had. Thanks to AGAPE HAND’s food bank, she was able to access basic products, allowing her to focus on generating income for her home.
✨ Rosa, a young indigenous woman, dreamed of studying but had to work long hours in the fields. With our support program, she was able to continue her studies and now leads a community project for other women.
✨ Carmen, a 65-year-old grandmother, took care of her grandchildren after the loss of her children. Thanks to our initiative, she receives monthly food assistance and participates in entrepreneurship workshops to generate income.
These are just a few of the thousands of stories that motivate us to keep going.
